Even as far as just a decade ago, CES (Consumer Electronics Show) was very true to its name as it was geared primarily to consumers and household consumer technology.
Interestingly, as vehicles have become ‘computers-on-wheels’, with many sensors, electronics and with a significant focus on safety and Human-Machine-Interface (HMI) and cool and sophisticated features, the line has blurred between consumer electronics and the technology that goes into highly-connected and increasingly-smart vehicles.
Are you attending CES 2020?
In other words, there has been a big ‘leak’ of ideas and innovation from the consumer technology space into the automotive industry. Automotive OEMs, Tier1s and Tier2s are innovating at a rapid speed as consumer tastes evolve and they expect new features at an almost breakneck speed, as well as adopting baked ideas from the general consumer space.
CES Is A ‘Must-Attend’ Automotive Show
CES has turned into an automotive show and focuses on the automotive industry to a greater degree than any other traditional automotive show with an increasing number of automotive related companies, show floor exhibitions, and outdoor demos that are offered at the event.

The Role of the Vehicles Has Changed
Vehicles have shifted from a transportation device into becoming a highly connected space where you spend hours of your day. Using your vehicle needs to be a comfortable and entertaining experience that seamlessly combines safety requirements, electrification, infotainment innovation, driver and occupant comfort, and a personalized user experience.
What Makes CES Unique Among Auto Events
As vehicles transition to relying on electronic systems in place of traditional functions, the industry is evolving in the ways it can use digital channels to improve safety, increase mobility options, find ways to lower production and operation costs as well as create new revenue streams.
CES is an excellent place to learn about the trends in other industries, and to see what trends may propagate to Automotive in the future. You can see CES 2019’s Vehicle Technology recap video for a short look into the highlighted trends from last year’s event.
Last, but certainly not least, one of the biggest factors that goes into our appreciation for CES is that many of the automotive stakeholders are in attendance and it’s a great chance to deepen relationships.
Why Vayyar Is a Great Fit for CES Automotive Exhibitions
Vayyar is the first to close the gap between the robustness of radars and the resolution of LiDAR and optics. Our high-performance, high resolution single radar-on-chip displays the dimension, shape, location, breathing pattern and movement of people, utilizing proprietary 4D point-cloud VOXEL imaging.
Our intelligent sensors provide
Inside the car:
- Smart Seat Belt Reminders
- Presence Detection
- Pre-tension and optimized airbag deployment,
- Gestures, and more
Outside the car:
- Parking assistance
- Automatic Emergency Breaking (AEB)
- Collision avoidance
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- And more
This enables a full 360 coverage in & out of the car, without the use of optics, regardless of line-of-sight, bad lighting or harsh weather conditions. The sensors provide a full picture of what’s occurring in, and outside, the vehicle while protecting passenger and driver privacy.
Our sensors are multi-functional, affordable and getting mass production ready. With a single Vayyar sensor, you’ll add capabilities, performance, as well as save lives and money.
